Never too old to play dress-up.

Apparently, my friend MG of the amazing curly red hair also has some great dress-up connections! The following pieces were lent to her to wear to the opera by her employer, a woman who must be amazing considering all the things I've seen of hers--do you think it's true that you could tell a lot about someone just by looking into their wardrobe?

Anyway, I wish I had a picture of the glorious shawl/robe thing that she let MG borrow that was covered in beads and leaves and had a life-size picture of a reclining woman on the back... it was worn to a Super Bowl party. Any chance to glam it up is fine in my book.

But, the things I tried on were pretty sweet nonetheless!

Being dumb in gorgeous Old-Hollywood gloves... I wish I still had a prom so I could wear these babies. There is nothing like the feeling of slinky, silky gloves all the way past your elbow completely concealing the fact that you don't work out enough.

Fan and purse... when I was little, I had a huge fascination with fans. I still want to carry one around, especially in the stuffy library where I work-- I do declare it makes one want to swoon.

I want to go to the opera so badly.

I also loooove those elegant gloves. When I was a junior I was on basketball homecoming court and I was pretty bitter because only the seniors were allowed to wear gloves. Grrrr.

Dressing up with no where to go has become part of my weekly routine. Its alot of fun just randomly mixing items together.

Have you ever realized that when you buy readymade suits you get a choice of only a few colors & styles, also finding the perfect fit are quite difficult? Wouldn’t it be better to choose from over 2000 different British & Italian fabrics and get a tailor made suit at a similar price that you pay for readymade suits?

We are a company based in Hong Kong and have been providing custom made suits & shirts since 1997. With representatives in major cities around the globe we can arrange to show you the fabric samples and take your measurements, or you can also place your orders online with the help of our measuring guide. There are over 2000 fabrics to choose from along with all the latest styles.

All our suits and shirts are produced by highly skilled Shanghainese tailors in Hong Kong and delivered in about 4 weeks, express delivery can be made in 2 weeks at a minor extra cost. In case you are not able to find what you are looking for then please let us know your requirement may it be in words or by a photograph and we could arrange it for you.

We also have an outlet at the Hotel Intercontinental Budapest where you are most welcome to visit us. Though we are not located in streets like Savile Row (London), we have still been able to offer made to measure suits to many VIP’s from around the world.

I love fans so much! My grandmother always bought them for me when she went to Spain.
In 2 months I'm going to Spain myself and I'll buy some cute fans there!

I recently found a box of some of my old clothes including the long, black, satiny gloves I used to wear when I was goth.
I would wear things like that on a day to day basis........
who was that person?

Religious icons on a fan, I dig that. The bag reminds me of one my mother had in her collection. Maybe I'll take a photo so you can see it.

I really like that photo of you in the gloves!

Your friend is soooo lucky. I want someone to lend me some clothes to go to the Opera.

Ah! You got attacked by Kenny Surtani too. What gives?

Fan = Want.

I'm pretty sure that when trying on a pair of ridiculously long yet gorgeous gloves, one must flail their arms around like a silk-covered goon. It is the law!

Those are such nice glam pieces--I can see them spicing up a normal outfit. Dress up is so much fun, you never get too old, right?

i do love those gloves- i have a long pair, but they're electric blue from H&M soo hardly as glamourous!

Of course you can tell about a person by their wardrobe! It's an honest representation of their likes and dislikes.
Unless it's a uniform. But I guess everything is a uniform, if you analyze it.
It's still telling.

Haha, that sounds like fun!
Where I live people carry fans and use them in summer, you should get one (maybe with a more simple design!) and use it in your library.

those gloves make me covet them...and Susie's right, you can definitely wear them during the day, no probs. Though that pic of them makes me think of Isabelle wearing opera gloves in The Dreamers..

And I love the purse and fan too (I have a special case of lust for fans).

Loving the opera-style clothes, very elegant. There's not enough elegant clothing around! And it can be mixed too, quirky and beautiful.

Oooh I've been meaning to ask, want to trade links? I read your blog all the time (and you comment on mine, and I'm trying to improve my commenting!), so really should have said before!
