Color, Couture, Curiosity, Culture

All I remember about this morning was crying the whole time as I was getting put to sleep (yeah, I'll admit it!) then waking up (thankfully only) when the dentist said, "okay, you're all done", and being on enough medication this evening to enjoy a marathon of My Super Sweet Sixteen.

But when I got my bearings and some delicious lime sherbet, I cracked open my new copy of 4C magazine. Apparently, it's an annual publication, and this was its first issue. And I was not wrong about the photography (it's worth it just for that!).

These were the shots, taken by photographer Dedi von Schaewen, which convinced me to put the magazine on top of my armload of periodicals.

In further perusing, I discovered that the articles were mostly generally about design--as in "Design," not much fashion design, though that was okay.

The fashion spreads, though, were too good for me to keep to myself. Here are some highlights, chosen mostly because I really want the clothes! Like this strapless dress, by Octopi.

Also, this one by Norma Kamali. It's innovative and dramatic, but also unusually wearable:

(This was just really interesting.)

And this turtleneck-and-skirt set by Jeremy Scott features an updated 40's silhouette and a print I'm in love with:

I'm about to go finish the articles, now, because I see myself cutting out a lot of the pictures!

I think I'm going to make a lookbook in the "notes" section of my new planner, that way I'll have it with me in case I ever find myself in the presence of a strapless dress with hands on the abdomen or a skirt printed with dance instructions. As if I'd need reminding not to pass something like that by.

good idea to have a lookbook in your planner - a good habit to get into is to have it with you as you're getting dressed in the morning, and every time you think something like 'I wish I had a black cardigan' or 'I need a brown leather belt for this dress', write it down so that when you're shopping, you know what to look out for!

Those photographs are amazing..and a skirt with dance steps on? So, so adorable, even if Jeremy Scott full-on is normally beyond my powers of endurance..

Lookbooks are always a great idea!
I adore the Norma Kamali dress... I just know I'd end up getting caught on things though somehow haha
and don't worry about crying at the dentists... I'd have been screaming and attacking them most likely!

The magazine looks really interesting. I actually saw it in the store today when I was stocking up on reading material for myself. I also really love the idea of the lookbook, because I'm always thinking, "I would really love such-and-such and item" and then I go out and see one, and I don't buy it because I can't recall that I had such a great idea for an outfit, and then I regret it later. I might just use your idea.

I love the fist and third pictures.

aw hope you're feeling better now. I hate going to the dentist, but I have to everymonth, because i've got braces 8-)

I watch sweet sxiteen episodes too. It's kind of weird, but since that show came out here, or started to be aired (i don't know how to say it), every girl who turns 15 (we celbrate 15th parties called QuinceaƱeros, instead of 16th) wants a performer and stuff like glowsticks and hats with ears... blahblahblah

take care ♥

Wow, what a great pictures. Refreshing I would say. Love the one with the strappy dress and the picture with the fencing.

And I'm now reading Code magazine. With great behind the scene article about the duo Eley Kishimoto. This sort of magazines are beginning to grow on me. Ellegirl, Glamour and other similiar "glossy's" bore the hell out of me. There's nothing useless in there to read.

Holy 43 comments Batman! See, wisdom teeth removal isn't so bad. You get to watch guilt free television, eat ice cream and get someone else to talk to your mom on the phone while your jaw is frozen.
