Am I a hypocrite?

I love patterned tights, but not on Paris Hilton, for some reason I haven't figured out. I mean, it's good that she's trying to dress halfway decently, right? Why am I so annoyed with her demure fashion-forwardness?

Well, houndstooth-on-houndstooth is a pretty good reason. I mean, there's not-leaving-your-house-for-3-days-except-to-go-to-the-library too much of a good thing and then there's houndstooth-on-houndstooth too much of a good thing. One of which I'm actually living, and I don't think mind-boggling graphic patterns from head to toe is quite the existence I want to lead right now.

And these tights closely resemble tourniquets, or something snagged at the last minute from the Hustler store clearance rack:

But even this look, which I would love on anyone else in the world, grates my nerves, and makes me grind my still-painful teeth:

I mean, the dress is adorable, and the tights are unexpected (one of my favorite style terms, I know). But why Paris, of all people?

I must consider this while I leisurely sip my too-strong hazelnut coffee and half-pay attention to The Year of Living Biblically.

Is it that I am such a creature of habit that I don't even like my celebrities to change? I went backpacking in Red River Gorge, though, for Godssake. Creatures of habit don't sleep on cliffs and break their veg and not bathe for four days, right? Though I admit I loved every minute of putting on my roommates pajamas after a hot shower and lying on the couch watching Walk the Line.

Hmm.

(Oh yeah, and my mom got really mad because my first--and hopefully only--credit card bill came in the mail today. She said, "that thing better only be for emergencies!" I mean, winning Cheap Monday jeans on eBay is an emergency! )

I agree with you, Paris looks ridculous in all the tights you posted. I think its because they make nice outfits looks unsophisticated and cheap.

paris hilton trying to be stylish
sghrghrahvei
why even bother?
its wayy too late to try to get people to respect her
shes made her bed, i hope she plans to lay in it and stop with the "ive changed, i want to give back" bullshit because it only makes her seem like a liar
i have lots of anger towards her haha

great post

why does paris have to ruin everything? the pieces are perfectly beautiful but she's managed to trash it up...ugh!!
she'll be the new joan collins when she's older!

Most definitely agree...especially with the whole houndstooth on houndstooth, it looks too busy. I think it might also have to do with how short her dresses are and how high her heels are, especially in that second picture.

the ebay purchase was def. an emergency- eventually she will understand that. and i love the red river gorge mention.

yes i must agree...the houndstooth on houndstooth is well a bit much. sometimes fashion just needs to be subtle.

Whilst those pink tights should theoreticaly work, as it's a very... Barbie colour, it doesn't work on her. The houndstooth would work if she wasn't "matchy" and the tourniquet ones are vile. There are a lot of things Paris wears that I dislike but I'm not sure if it's because they wouldn't suit me at all (I'm thinking here of a long, print maxidress)

The problem is Paris. She tries too hard and it shows.

Paris always makes me laugh
I never expect her to be fashionable so I just take her for what she is

LOL @ denim emergency.

I don't like houndstooth at all, I'm not sure why. It just seems boring and crusty even if it's being reinterpreted.

I feel like Paris Hilton always just misses the mark (or compleeetely misses it). It's kind of weird.

Yeah, I'm excited for bathing suits.. even if it is only December (and I don't live somewhere hot). Pretty sure I'm going to do a bikini post!

I also agree with you! She looks ridiculous!

I have the same problem with Paris Hilton, I just can't stand her. And I don't like those tights either, I think it's quite difficult to mix patterned tights...

I don't know, Paris is Paris is Paris. Her outfits look so match-y match-y and it doesn't ever seem like she can truly be just comfortable and fashionable?

Think Keira Knightley paparazzi shots, then think Paris Hilton. There is such a big contrasttttt...

i actually don't mind the pink tights, but oh LAWDY those houndstooth tights! but paris doesn't exactly go for "understated."

and dude, cheap monday jeans is SO an credit card emergency!

Isn't it funny how she wreck's *everything*, even tights, which I didn't think anyone could make terrible.

Just b/c she has money doesn't mean we need to like her. But yes, I totally agree that these outfits would look good on someone else.

I swear I saw a picture of Paris wearing leopard print with leopard print tights somewhere. This pattern on pattern look might be her new "thing."

Anything I like, once I see it on Paris Hilton I will instantly start to detest. That lady has no class.

She's like the Victoria Beckham of the United States, but worse since Victoria at least had a career of her own and isn't as much of a train wreck, stylistically speaking (only slightly, though)- an instant way to lower the status of a brand in the public's eyes. It doesn't help that she has no taste whatsovere.

Oops, I meant Whatsoever. I am clumsy. And no, you're not a hyprocrite. Some people just have no style.
